Abstract
These data were collected to investigate the potential for and controls upon metal/metalloid mobility in peatland porewater in peatlands in the area around Yellowknife, NT. To do this we selected three representative lake-associated peatlands located approximately 18km northeast of Yellowknife in addition to two previously studied peatlands located 5km and 60km northwest of Yellowknife respectively. Peatlands were instrumented with piezometers in transects running between the lakeshore and the bedrock adjacent. Porewater samples were extracted fortnightly throughout July and August to document changes in chemistry during the summer season.
Purpose
The purpose of this project was to investigate the potential for and controls upon metal/metalloid mobility in peatland porewater in peatlands in the area around Yellowknife, NT.
